Dabangii needs a rating push.

By Anil Merani: The Sony show “Dabangii-Mulgii Aayi Re Aayi” is a refreshing departure from the regular Saas-bahu content on Indian television. The show revolves around the rivalry between two brothers, played by Manav Gohil and Aamir Dalvi, and is quite engaging.

The story starts with Sathya’s (Aamir) child, Arya, being looked after by Inspector Ankoosh (Manav). The young actor Maahi Bhadra impresses everyone with her innocence and bravery.

The show has now taken a leap, with Ankoosh seeking revenge against politician Satya, and Arya (Rachna Mistry) developing a romantic relationship with Eklavya (Rrahul Sudhir).

Manav Gohil has been excellent in his portrayal of a husband and father caught between his family and Arya, and now as a revenge-seeking man who will stop at nothing to wreak havoc on Satya. Aamir is equally impressive as an angry villain and a manipulative politician who plans his every move.

Rachna Mistry is also getting better with every episode, showing love towards Eklavya in an interesting way, while also remaining committed to fulfilling her duty towards Ankoosh.

It will be interesting to see whether Arya develops paternal love and ends up upsetting Ankoosh’s plans. Rrahul Sudhir is apt as the government agent sent to expose Satya. He loves Arya but is also committed to his duty.

The show’s supporting cast is equally good and helps the main leads shine. The producers, Herumb Khot and Nilanjana Purkayasstha, deserve praise for having faith in and sticking with the concept.

The story’s screenplay and visual aesthetic are spot on, with constant twists and turns that keep the audience engaged. The show’s popularity could be boosted by Rrahul’s online fandom, and we hope more viewers tune in to enjoy this excellent show.*
